Private Mode

What is Private Mode? 

Private Mode is a Stir feature that allows you to display your profile only to individuals you have communicated with. When you’re using Private Mode, you will see the message “They can see you” or “They can't see you” on other members’ profiles. You can then decide if you would like to change your visibility settings for that member by selecting 'unblock' or 'hide and block'.

Private Mode can be purchased during the initial subscription process or later at a pro-rated price.

 

Changing your visibility

You can easily manage your profile visibility settings at any time. All members can choose to make their profiles Visible or Hidden. If you’ve purchased Private Mode, you’ll also have the option to make your profile Private as well (visible only to members you have chosen to contact). Please keep in mind that Private Mode can only be turned on through the Stir app.

  • On the Stir app
    • Tap on the "Profile" icon at the bottom of the screen.
    • Tap on the gear icon at the top of your profile page.
    • Under "Profile Visibility," select the visibility you would like for your profile: Visible, Hidden, or Private Mode.
    • When you select a new visibility option, the change will go into effect immediately. 

 

  • On the mobile site:
    • Tap on the "Profile" icon at the bottom of the screen.
    • Tap on the gear icon at the top of your profile page.
    • Locate "Visibility"
    • Select "Anyone can see you" (Visible), or "No one can see you" (Hidden)

 

  • On the desktop site:
    • Click on your primary photo thumbnail in the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
    • Your visibility options are at the top of your profile page, on the right side.
    • Select "Anyone can see you" (Visible), or "No one can see you" (Hidden)
